Local Marketer: Social Media is Not the Future | 2011-05-06
Many marketing publications, marketers, and web designers feel that social media is the future of marketing and communications. Local marketing firm owner, Brockwell Bone, rejects this belief.
Social media includes online tools and websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. These websites allow users to communicate with each other and share photos, videos, and comments with each other. Businesses and politicians have begun using social media as a tool for promotion and communication to consumers and constituents.
Bone Marketing, located in the City of Central, Louisiana, has experience working with businesses and ministries such as Cornerstone Fellowship on Blackwater Road and Cangelosi Ward General Contractors in Baton Rouge.
Bone founded the firm as a web design and web development company in 2000. Since then, they have expanded their experience to encompass all online and offline communication tools.
Bone expresses that, "Social media is not the future : it is the now!" Brockwell shares that he has given presentations on social media this year, one hosted by the Snyder Chamber of Commerce in Texas, and almost made the mistake of calling it the future of marketing. "Social media is here, it's now, and people love it. In today's fast-paced world, we crave small bites of information and social media allows us to communicate that way."
When asked what he felt the next wave in marketing would include, he responds with mobile marketing. Phones are getting smarter and the internet is increasing in accessibility. "Not to mention, the new generation of consumers were born in the era of texting and tweeting," explains Bone.
